Ready to Go!
Trip plans and Prayer Points
Our first blog post of the Friends of Madagascar Mission (FOMM) 2023 Madagascar Mission Education Trip is being written two days before we leave. It is only with God that these efforts are possible.
Friday is our first day of business, having been in transit since Wednesday (time zones and distance are considerable). After a presentation on the Fifohazana Movement by Pastor Georges Samoela and the impact it has upon the life of the Malagasy Lutheran Church (FLM), we have an introductory meeting with President Denis of the Malagasy Lutheran Church scheduled. Following that we go to the headquarters of SALFA (The FLM medical organization). While there Shanta Parker, Executive Director of Medical Mission Air (MMA) will be introduced to Dr. Rasoarimanana. FOMM has applied for two scholarships from MMA for two girls attending the Nofy i Androy Program in Ambovombe Androy, in southern Madagascar (A FOMM supported program). Shanta Parker will discuss MMA’s program and their need to have an in-country organization manage the program. We will visit the Lutheran School of Nursing in Antsirabe as well. This will be followed by a meeting with our Malagasy staff to review ministry descriptions and the role of each during our current visit to Madagascar and beyond.
The focus of our second day will be entirely on the Prison Ministry. We begin with a visit to the Arivonimamo Prison in Antananarivo and participate in the worship service followed by a meeting with the PMM Bureau.
Sunday begins with a 6:30 worship service. We will visit two churches in the capital. The afternoon is set aside for lunch and a ramble through the Lemur park outside of town.
You will hear more about these events at the end of each day. We will be writing notes which become a blog post. Please return to the homepage of the website each day. We will be visiting the sites of the ministries Friends of Madagascar Mission mentors and supports. You will learn more about these and the people and Madagascar as a whole as you return to this space, which we very much hope you do.
Prayer Points: safe travel, Friday meetings with members and officials of Fiangonana Loterana Malagasy (FLM), meetings with medical missions, blessings for our Malagasy staff, and prayers for our Saturday meeting concerning the Prison Ministry.
